Tonight is the first night we are using Scorestream to share scores from area football games. Scorestream uses crowdsourcing from volunteers and “manager” to report scores for sports teams at all levels. Tonight we’re featuring high school varsity football from the Mid-Suburban League and St Viator.
Hersey, Buffalo Grove, Palatine, Wheeling, Barrington, Contant, Rolling Meadows, St Viator, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, Elk Grove, Prospect and Fremd are all playing tonight.
You are welcome to access The Cardinal page at Arlingtoncardinal.com/varsityfootball to access the scores. We encourage you to follow the links to scorestream, register and follow your favorite teams. the site is designed well, and allows interaction by cheering and chatting about your team on a game page. You can also become a fan of several teams and follow the teams and other fans.
Anyone can score and schedule games in ScoreStream. Our model is what is called “crowd sourcing,” a phenomenon facilitated by today’s digital age. It allows us to have scores nationwide in upwards of 10,000 games on a good weekend. Anyone can provide scores and users work together. Fans, coaches, parents, students, and media companies are all examples of users who make up our “crowd” and work together.
— ScoreStream
ScoreStream reports they have powerful tools and algorithms built around verifying score information from users. Power users and good users out rank lesser experienced users when a conflict over score arises. Troublemakers are given blackball status rendering them effectively null throughout the system.
