Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies and Libertyville Fire Department responded about 11:18 a.m. Friday August 12, 2016, to a traffic crash involving motorcycle and a box truck with injuries at Milwaukee Avenue and Casey Road in unincorporated Libertyville. When sheriff’s deputies arrived they located a motorcyclist on the ground with severe injuries.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported by Libertyville Fire Department ambulance to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the box truck was not injured.
Preliminary investigation shows a 2016 Indian Motorcycle, driven by a 57 year-old man, was northbound on Milwaukee Avenue. The driver of the motorcycle attempted to make a left turn onto Casey Road, when he was struck by a southbound 2014 Hino Box Truck, driven by a 46 year-old man. The driver of the motorcycle, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle.
A crash investigation team remained at the crash scene until at least 3:15 p.m., and the crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
