A northern Virginia mayor was facing drug charges Friday after his arrest in a meth-for-sex sting, police said. The mayor, R. Scott Silverthorne, was arrested Thursday after meeting with undercover detectives at a hotel.
Mayor Richard “Scott” Silverthorne, 50, mayor of Fairfax, Virginia, who is also a substitute teacher for Fairfax County public schools, was arrested Thursday after he allegedly provided meth to undercover officers who met him at a local hotel, police said.
Silverthorn was arrested on charges of distributing methamphetamines in an alleged “meth-for-sex” scheme, according to Fairfax County Police.
Silverthorne — a third term mayor — was charged with felony distribution of meth and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
