Syria: Boy Omran Daqneesh becomes symbol of Aleppo’s suffering, Russia “ready for ceasefire”
Ali Daqneesh, who initially survived an airstrike Wednesday night in Aleppo, has died from injuries sustained in the airstrike. His 4-year-old brother Omran Daqneesh, who was the photographed with his face caked with dust and blood, and the subject of worldwide news media post, survived with a minor head injury. His two sisters and parents also survived the airstrike in the war-torn city of Aleppo also survived.
The civil war in Syria has claimed the lives of more than 400,000 people, 41,000 of them children.
