Nearly two days after a suicide truck bomb ripped through Baghdad, families are still hoping that rescuers searching through the rubble can locate the bodies of their loved ones.
The death toll from Saturday’s suicide bombing in Baghdad has risen to 200, according to the deputy head of the security committee of the Baghdad Provincial Council, Mohamed al-Rubaye.
A bomb-carrying refrigerator truck plowed into a building that included a coffee shop, stores and a gym. Firefighters rescued wounded and trapped people in adjacent buildings.
In Iraq, second bomb exploded Sunday at an outdoor market in the Shaab neighborhood of southeastern Baghdad, killing one person and wounding five others, police said.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, which was the latest of several attacks that occurred this year during Ramadan. Jihadists launch operations against those they regard as their enemies during Ramadan, which is a Muslim period of fasting and prayer.
