Crystal Lake police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:57 PM Wednesday to a report of crash with injuries at 45 West Franklin Street, Crystal Lake, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of black smoke coming from behind Crystal Lake Central High School (actually coming from the roof).

Engine 341’s crew on arrival reported visible smoke showing through the roof and requested an upgrade to a General Alarm — Engine 341 crew was out investigating by 3:44 p.m.
Police reported seeing smoke in the area by 3:44 p.m.
Chief 303 reported beginning a 360-degree assessment by 3:46 p.m.
Engine 341’s reported they will need a ladder truck on the Delta division by 3:46 p.m.
Chief 303 on arrival reported roof work going on at the scene.
Chief 305 at the Charlie-Delta Division by 3:47 p.m.
Chief 303 reported black smoke from the roof area of the Bravo division near the field house by 3:48 p.m. — companies were assigned to go to an offensive attack.
Battalion Chief 330 on scene at the Bravo Division by 3:48 p.m.
A crew (probably Engine 341) reported gaining access through the Alpha division, and reported no smoke on the first floor. The fire moved to the second floor by 3:49 p.m.
Chief 303 requested keyholders from District 155 respond to the Bravo side off of Walkup Avenue.
Firefighters reported construction workers on the roof by 3:50 p.m.
Crystal Lake police officers assisted with search of the school building in non-smoke-filled areas.
Two firefighters were transported to area hospital(s) suffering from heat exhaustion.
The fire was reported under control by 4:30 p.m.
A second ambulance (Wonder Lake) was assigned to rehab at 4:41 p.m.
