Microsoft cut 1800 people in its mobile facility in Finland in May 2016, and is now cutting an additional 800 workers. The job cuts are from smartphone hardware and sales.
Microsoft plans to focus on software and leave the smartphone hardware to other companies. Microsoft is working on software and apps that will work across a variety of platforms.
Microsoft recently acquired LinkedIn, which points to integration of cloud services for corporations.
