A NWS Flood Advisory was issued for northeastern DuPage County and Northwestern Cook County at 1:03 pm effective until 3:00 pm.
A thunderstorm developed near the DuPage-Cook County border about 1:00 p.m. expanding north into northwest Cook County. No Severe Thunderstorm Warning was activated, but several lightning strikes caused power failures and tree damage in the northwest suburbs. Some motorists were also stranded in their vehicles when roads flooded.
