A man with a gun opened fire about 9:00 a.m. CDT Sunday on Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge police officers Sunday, killing three officers and injuring at least three and possibly seven officers after police responded to a call of a “suspicious person walking down Airline Highway with an assault rifle.” When police arrived on Airline Highway near Old Hammond Drive, the man opened fire.
The situation was contained by noon, and the shooter is believed to be down as well, but there are also reports of two suspects at large. Details were not confirmed as of 11:25 a.m. Sunday.
