Job growth slowdown, rising gas prices, and a widening gap between grocery stores and restaurants may have made consumers jittery, according to WSJ’s Julie Jargon. Even fast food restaurant have seen stalling sales since March, April and May.
Restaurants are grappling with rising healthcare costs, and rising labor costs with minimum wage increases. These factors have caused the widest gap in the restaurant bill compared to the grocery store bill since the 1980s, according to Julie Jargon.
