Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:05 AM Saturday to a report of a townhouse fire at 846 West Panorama Drive Palatine, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a patio deck was on fire (photos below).
Palatine Fire Engine 84’s crew on arrival reported a second floor deck fire with extension to the attic. Firefighters led out with a pre-connect hose by 6:08 am.

E81 crew reported they knocked the main body of fire inside, and were checking for extension by 6:16 am.
A primary search was completed by 6:18 am.
Tower Ladder 85’s crew reported a primary search on second floor was clear by 6:19 am. The crew was also pulling ceiling.
Firefighters reported no more visible fire by 7:38 am; checking for extension.
An interior crew reported there is still some fire in the attic by 6:23 am.
A primary all clear was reported at first and second floor by 6:24 am.
Palatine Rural Engine 36’s crew was assigned to bring a third line to the second floor by 6:30 am, then Engine 84’s crew reported they’re OK with their primary attack line and a backup a backup hose line. Engine 36’s crew was re-assigned to assist Engine 84 with their hose line.
A crew on the roof reported the roof was getting soft and that roof conditions were worsening, firefighters were getting off the roof at 6:33 am. Smoke was still coming from the roof line at 6:34 am. The fire was apparently brought under control shortly after firefighters got off the roof.
Interior crew reported the secondary search was all clear by 6:36 am.
Engine 84’s crew was assigned salvage on first floor by 6:43 am.
Firefighters were checking air conditions for carbon monoxide, and cyanide, etc by 6:52 am.
Ventilation was underway by 6:53 am.
Air conditions were good by 7:05 a.m. Hydrogen Cyanided meter showed a zero reading and carbon monoxide level was reported at 3 ppm at 7:05 a.m. on the first floor. Firefighers continued to ventilate and overhaul the building.
No injuries were reported — not officially confirmed.
Firefighters responded to a similar fire in the complex on Saturday February 27, 2016 after they received a report of a propane tank fire on a balcony at 909 West Panorama Drive. Firefighters at the February fire also reported fire on a balcony and roof, but no interior fire was discovered. The February fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes.
