Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:12 AM Monday to a report of a garbage truck fire at Elmhurst Road And Greenleaf Avenue Elk Grove Village, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a garbage truck was on fire on Greenleaf Avenue just east of Elmhurst Road.
The Elk Grove Village Battalion Chief on arrival reported that they had a garbage truck fire, and that the driver appeared to be dumping his load in the road.
Firefighters were working on extinguishing the fire, and the garbage truck company is bringing an end loader to clear the garbage from the roadway.
Wind was from the Southeast at 14 mph at O’Hare International airport at 9:51 a.m.
Elmhurst Road was initially congested in both directions, but traffic was clearing by 10:15 a.m.
