Barrington police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:16 AM Sunday to a report of a gunshot victim near the railroad tracks at Northwest Highway and Shorely Drive Barrington, IL. Police initially responded to a report of a person injured at 3:09 a.m. Firefighter/paramedics were dispatched about received a report that a person was shot at about 3:16 a.m. A Chevy sedan was found crashed into a railroad gate at the southwest corner of the railroad grade crossing just west of Lake Zurich Road and east of Illinois Route 59. The crashed Chevy sedan — possibly charcoal gray — appeared to have been eastbound on US 14 (Northwest Highway) before the crash, unless the driver attempted a U-turn after traveling westbound on Northwest Highway.

The area is surrounded by a normally quiet and upper middle class residential neighborhoods and just north of downtown Barrington
The shooting incident possibly involved a road rage incident, but that information is not confirmed. Also, bullets may have shot out the driver’s side window, but this is also not confirmed.
Barrington Police Department did confirm that two people were shot and transported to an area hospital.
Police closed Northwest Highway (US 14) between Lake Zurich Road and Illinois Route 59. Northwest Highway remained closed at 1:10 pm Sunday.
The Cook County Major Case Assistance Team was on the scene, although the crash scene was in Lake County. Areas of Barrington are in Lake County and Cook Cook County.
