Update 5:45 PM …
After reporting that a shooting of two people in Barrington near Northwest Highway and Shorely Drive was an isolated incident, two men and a woman have been arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm. Police say the shooting resulted in two men injured. One of the men, age 21, was critically injured after being shot in the face. The other man, age 19, was hit by shrapnel fragments as bullets hit the car during the shooting.
The three arrested were identified as …
Sherron P. Reed Jr, 20, of the 200 block of Sheridan Street, Joliet;
Brandon D. Campbell, 21, of the 400 block of Irving Street, Joliet; and
Justin L. Crowder, 19, of the 1400 block of Eunice Avenue, Joliet.
The three suspects and the two shooting victims possibly attended the same birthday party in the neighborhood near the block of 500 Welch Circle in Lake Barrington Saturday night to early Sunday morning. Lake County Sheriff was in the neighborhood for a parking complaint — possibly related to the crowd at the party. Deputies asked some vehicle owners to move their vehicles, but there were no other problems, and the vehicle owners complied with the request of the deputies. The block of 500 Welch Circle is about 5.6 miles or 11 minutes northwest of the crime scene at Northwest Highway and Shorely Drive.
The three suspects were in their car and were traveling home to Joliet, Illinois eastbound on Route 14 when a confrontation with two men in a blue Chevy Malibu occurred — possibly related to road rage.
Police say Reed, Campbell and Crowder are suspected of firing shots with an AR-15 rifle from their moving vehicle into the victims’ moving vehicle. The victims’ vehicle crashed into a Canadian National railroad gate on the eastbound side of Northwest Highway and about 540 feet east of Shorely Drive. A witness in a vehicle behind the Malibu and the suspect’s vehicle reported seeing gunfire flash from the back seat of the suspects’ vehicle. Police also received information that the victims’ Malibu had swerved toward the suspects’ lane before the shooting occurred. Police did not release information about the suspects’ vehicle and did not release whether the suspects’ vehicle was in custody.
Barrington police responded to the call of a possible shooting near Route 14 and Shorely Drive at 3:09 a.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016.
