Following a police pursuit and crash near Harlem Avenue and 47th Street in Berwyn, two armed robbery suspects are at large. A large is search is underway involving Berwyn Police Department and neighboring police departments and the Illinois State Police.
Initially at about 8:18 p.m. Friday it was reported that two suspects of three were in custody. About 8:35 p.m. it was reported that only one suspect was in custody, and that two suspects were at large.
One of the suspects was described as a male/black subject wearing a white shirt or black T-shirt and blue jeans. The suspect may have stripped off one of the shirts, and may be wet and covered in mud and dirt. The suspect is possibly heavyset — possibly 5’6″ tall.
One offender attempted to strike a firefighter/paramedic and was reported being detained without police present. Police were requested to expedite.
The manhunt is near Ottawa Trail Woods, Portage Woods, north of I-55, east of Lyons, near the Berwyn-Lyons border. The scene of the initial armed robbery is unknown at this time.
