Chicago police, firefighters and paramedics responded to a hit-and-run crash about 12:35 a.m. at Huron Street and Orleans Street near The Green Door Tavern. Three people, including two pedestrians, were injured.
The driver of a westbound blue Toyota ran a red light and hit a northbound gray Toyota that is used as an Uber car. The driver of the Uber Toyota was injured. Impacted by the crash, the gray Toyota hit one male and one female pedestrian, and then hit The Green Door Tavern. The two pedestrians were pinned for a short time by the car, until firefighters rescued them. Engine 42’s crew and others rescued the two pedestrians, while Chicago Fire Department’s Battalion 1 supervised.
Paramedic crews from Ambulance 42, Ambulance 11, and Ambulance 53 transported the two pedestrians and the person driving the Uber gray Toyota to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Rush University Medical Center. The injuries at the time of the crash were not believed to be life-threatening.
There was no confirmation there were any other occupants in the gray Toyota.
Damage to The Green Door Tavern building was described as minimal.
The driver of the Uber-marked gray Toyota was innocent. But lately every report about Uber is a prominent news story these days.
