USA Today’s Jefferson Graham: The Apple iPhone introduction in March is expected to be a “total yawn” and “Apple really has a lot of catch up to do.”
Apple has history of pushing features, but not keeping up with the technical demands. For example, they added something called “Live Photos” that is basically a segment of video encompassing the photo shoot. Every picture taken with the latest iPhone 6S or 6S Plus is, by default, also a memory-gobbling Live Photo. Apple’s latest iPhones also shoot 4K video. These added features make the 16GB iPhone practically unusable, because there is not enough memory to store images and videos.
Also, remember that the more apps you have, the more memory that is taken up. And Apple loves to promote apps.
All these years of manufacturing an iPhone (the first generation was introduced June 29, 2007), and the phone still can’t last a long work day with moderate to heavy use.
That’s why users want a longer-lasting battery or an easily removable battery. The March 2016 Apple iPhone is rumored to have a 1,624 mAh battery, which is larger than the battery in the iPhone 5s, but much smaller than the Samsung S7 edge, which has a 3,600 mAh battery.
Apple’s iPhone due out in March is expected to be a 4-inch device aimed at those who want something more affordable and smaller. The phone is believed to closely resemble the 5s, and is expected to be equipped with an NFC chip and Touch ID to support the company’s Apple Pay payment service. It will also include the latest iPhone features like Bluetooth 4.2, fast 802.11ac WiFi, and VoLTE. It is rumored to not have the new 3D touch in the display which functions to open menus and perform other functions.
