A nurse from upstate New York was forced to surrender her license after she was caught taking photos of an unconscious patient’s genitals last year. Kristen Johnson pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disseminating of unlawful surveillance photos. CBSN’s Jamie Yuccas and Meg Oliver have more details.
New York nurse Kristen Johnson, age 27, is accused of taking pictures of an unconscious patient’s penis and sent the pictures to coworkers. Johnson was also accused of using her Apple iPhone 5 to take a video of another nurse cleaning an incapacitated female patient’s gastrointestinal blood clot, according to court papers. Co-workers complained that Johnson captured images of two patients and sent them via text message.
She avoided felony charges by agreeing to turn in her nursing license. She will serve three years probation for taking the unlawful surveillance pictures, as part of the plea deal to surrender her nursing license.

The New York State Education Department accepted Kristen Johnson’s request to surrender her license, according to a March 17 statement. Johnson “did not contest the charge of moral unfitness in the practice,” the New York Education Department said.
Johnson was arrested in May of 2015 after an investigation discovered that she took pictures of two patients at Upstate University Hospital in 2014 and sent them to her coworkers.
