Illinois State Police and Elgin firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:20 AM Friday to a report of a rollover crash with injuries on eastbound I-90 EB just west of Dundee Ave, Elgin Il. Illinois State Police and Elgin firefighter/paramedics reported multiple injuries on the scene. At least nine ambulances were called to the scene for the crash on the eastbound lanes just west of Dundee Avenue.
A white stretch limousine rolled over in the crash after hitting the end of a construction J-wall that dividing traffic. Two patients with possible life-threatening injuries were transported to Sherman Hospital.
The EMS response was categorized as a Life Safety Box Alarm to the second level at about 7:38 a.m.
The extra alarm for ambulances was struck out at about 7:43 a.m.
Traffic on I-90 was blocked in both directions.
Patients were transported to Sherman Hospital in Elgin and St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates. Six patients were transported to Sherman Hospital in Elgin, and one patient was transported to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates. One of the patients that was transported to Sherman Hospital died at the hospital.
All people traveling in the crashed limousine were from Wisconsin.
