Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies and Wauconda firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:35 PM Wednesday, February 17, 2016 to the block of 2600 North Wisteria Court, Port Barrington, for a snowmobile crash with injuries. When Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, they located the driver of the snowmobile lying on the ground, unconscious. The snowmobile driver was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital in critical condition.
Preliminary investigation determined the snowmobile was only occupied by the 33-year-old female driver. Deputies learned she took the snowmobile for a short ride. As she proceeded, she accelerated rapidly, causing the front skis of the snowmobile to lift off the ground. She was ejected from the snowmobile, struck her head on the pavement, and the snowmobile overturned. LCSO deputies reported that it appeared alcohol may have played a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
