Kiera Larsen, age 10, died heroically about 5:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2016 while saving to other children. She was hit by a vehicle when she pushed to other children out of the way to safety as a 1999 Mercedes Benz SUV rolled down a hill on a driveway in reverse near Olde Highway 80 and Los Coches Road.

Paramedics transported Kiera Larsen to Sharp Grossmont Hospital, where she died from major trauma injuries.
In a period of a week two other children were killed in crashes in San Diego County. An 11-year-old Anaheim girl was killed in a crash that caused a fire. Bystanders and rescuers could not release the 10-year-old girl from the wreckage before the fire consumed the vehicle. Rochelle Hernandez was a backseat passenger in her aunt’s Lexus sedan when it was struck from behind by a speeding Toyota Camry at the Border Patrol checkpoint near Buckman Springs Road. The Lexus then crashed into the back of a Honda Pilot and burst into flames.
Following that fatal crash by about 30 minutes, an 11-year-old San Bernardino County boy was killed in a crash on Interstate 15 near Gopher Canyon Road. The boy was killed after a Dodge Challenger rear-ended a Chevy Trailblazer, and caused it to roll several times — ejecting him from the backseat of the Chevy Trailblazer. His identity was not immediately released.
