UPDATE: The Cardinal 2 Single-Vehicle Crashes in Huntley Were Related Alright: They Involved the Same Driver
Huntley police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:50 AM Friday to a report of rollover crash with a fire at Jim Dhamer Drive and Route 47 Huntley, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived on scene to discover one person without a pulse and an SUV on its side at the intersection.
The SUV received serious front-end damage. A second vehicle was located off of the road about one-mile east of the intersection near Freeman Road. Jim Dhamer Drive runs west of the intersection with Route 47; Freeman Road runs east of the intersection toward the entrance for Huntley Outlet Center.
Huntley Police Department report that the driver of a 2002 Honda CR-V was going west on Freeman Road about 4:49 a.m. when the vehicle went out of control. There was also a report that the vehicle hit a light standard. The only wide view aerial news helicopter images were in darkness, and no downed light pole was readily seen in those images.

A blue tarp covered the rear tailgate area of the SUV, and a prolonged accident investigation was underway Friday morning.
A police news release also reported no second vehicle was involved in the crash, despite the fact that a sedan was located about one-half mile east of the crash scene with apparent front-end damage.
Police were searching for the driver of the second vehicle after checking the license and registration of the vehicle. Police were also searching the outlet mall area.
Developing … Friday morning there was no confirmation whether there was any connection between the two vehicles. There is no confirmation yet whether there was a first accident near Huntley Auto Mall Drive, and whether the driver of the Honda SUV was fleeing westbound from an initial crash near Freeman Road and Huntley Auto Mall Drive. Or whether the driver of the sedan may have fled some type of crash or interaction at Freeman Road and Route 47 and continued eastbound.
