A local grocery store sign painter in Minnesota is hanging it up after 55 years but it’s who he’s leaving his business behind to and why that makes this much more than just a story of retirement.
“The brush is like a tractor pulling a semi-trailer.” That’s one of his most important tips in the successful art of creating grocery signs. At age 73, and with 55 years of experience, Randy Mueller is retiring and selling his business. The business took a downturn with replacement of Mom and Pop stores by Big Box stores.
For 17 years he worked with his apprentice, Patrick. When he sold the business, it was on the condition that Patrick keep his job with the new business owner.
