Following a judge’s order, Chicago police released video of the shooting death of Cedrick Chatman that occurred on January 7, 2013. CNN’s Rosa Flores reports.
After a court order, the City of Chicago released Thursday two local high school surveillance camera videos and a Chicago police blue light surveillance camera video — both near the intersection of 75th Street and Jeffrey. The video shows suspect Cedrick Chatman was running away from police through the intersection when he was shot.
Two plainclothes Chicago police officers are seen in the Jan. 7, 2013, video chasing Chatman through and intersection in a South Shore neighborhood about 1:45 p.m. While one officer approaches the teen, another — identified in the Chatman family lawsuit as Officer Kevin Fry — runs diagonally across the street.
An attorney for the family criticized the police for not communicating immediately before the shooting. The defense for the police officer that shot Chatman said the police officer believed an Apple iPhone box was a gun.
CBS2Chicago: Video at intersection at about 1:45 p.m. Thursday January 7, 2013.
