Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:19 AM Sunday to a report of a house fire at 541 Walnut Lane Elk Grove Village, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that an attached garage at a house was on fire. All residents were reported evacuated from the house.

Firefighters arrived find a garage involved with fire and smoke showing. A water supply was established at about 8:28 a.m. as firefighters reported melted siding on the house next-door to the west. Firefighters also reported an engine compartment fire still burning on the driveway at 8:40 a.m.
The fire reached the attic of the home with high northwest winds at about 17 MPH — gusting to 30 MPH.
Police reported they were helping the family with a possible injured infant at 8:32 a.m.
Firefighters reported a heavy amount of of black smoke pushing out of the house at 8:45 a.m. and then reported fire broke through the roof near the front door of the house at about 8:48 a.m.
All interior attack firefighters were ordered out of the building by about 8:58 a.m. The fire in the roof eventually included the center of the house to the west side of the house, and there was a concern that the roof was going to collapse.
Elk Grove paramedics from Ambulance 11’s crew transported the infant to a nearby hospital at about 8:54 a.m.
A second adult patient was also assessed by paramedics at about 8:58 a.m.
The fire was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm by about 9:12 a.m.
The fire was reported “out” at 9:36 a.m.
