Flirty text messages from Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman reveal a level of infatuation with actress Kate del Castillo. CNN’s Brian Todd reports.
ABC News reported this week that Mexican government authorities want to know why actor Sean Penn and Mexican movie and TV star Kate del Castillo had not shared information about Joaquin Guzman when they communicated with him about a potential Hollywood biopic.
Mexican authorities intercepted text communications of Kate del Castillo and Joaquin Guzman. Del Castillo arranged for Penn to meet Guzman, according to the Rolling Stone article. According to Mexican officials, del Castillo was monitored by authorities starting in August 2015 when she first met Andrés Granados, the attorney for Guzmán who set up the meeting between El Chapo, del Castillo and Hollywood star and activist Sean Penn on October 2.
A few years ago, Kate del Castillo expressed her mistrust of the Mexican government on Twitter. She tweeted that her trust would go to “El Chapo” instead of the government. “Mr. Chapo, wouldn’t it be cool that you started trafficking with love?” she wrote on her social media account.
Following are text messages apparently revealed by the Mexican government.
Del Castillo: I haven’t been able to sleep much since I saw you. I’m very excited about our story. It’s true. It’s the only thing I can think of.
El Chapo: Let me tell you that I’m more excited about you than the story, my friend.
Del Castillo: Ha, ha, ha! Knowing that makes me really glad. You make me blush.
El Chapo: I really want to meet you and become very good friends. You’re the best thing in the world,” El Chapo tells her.
Del Castillo: Me too, indeed, and be able to tell you about our project.”
El Chapo: … I will take care of you more than I care for my own eyes. If you bring wine I’ll try it – I like tequila and Bucana , but I’ll try the tequila that you bring, and champagne.
