Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson suspended his campaign activities on Tuesday, after one campaign staffer and three volunteers were injured in a car accident in Iowa.
Carson’s campaign reported one volunteer had to be airlifted from the scene to the trauma center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, near Iowa’s western border. The other victims were transported to Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.
The crash occurred when the Carson staffers’ van hit a patch of ice and rolled on its side. The van was then hit by another vehicle, according to a statement from Carson’s campaign.
