TODAY SUNRISE: 7:19 AM SUNSET: 4:26 PM
MONDAY HIGHLIGHTS
An upcoming Winter Storm Warning is activated for freezing rain and sleet, not deep snow. High winds and freezing rain and sleet are expected to impact travel, trees, tree limbs and power lines. There may be more icing potential west of the Cook County – DuPage County border.
Gusty Winds to 30 MPH currently exist with an increase expected about 3:00 a.m. with gusts peaking to about 50 MPH at 3:00 p.m.
Snow accumulation is only forecast at 0.6 inch from 5 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for Arlington Heights. A mix of significant freezing rain and sleet from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. is apparently adding to the criteria for a Winter Storm Warning.
Freezing rain and sleet are expected to continue with less intensity past the Winter Storm Warning period.
