Waukegan police activity about 2:07 AM Sunday for a report of an aggravated assault against a police officer near Elmwood Avenue and Belvidere Street. Police alerted area police departments of an offender description that involved a dark-colored Pontiac Grand Prix with a male/Hispanic driver wearing a red shirt.
The police alert reported that one shot was fired by the police officer. The nature of the assault against the police officer was not described and not available at the time of this media post.
Police were not sure whether the offender’s vehicle was hit by the officer’s round.
