Noodle the yellow lab falls off ferry, and rescued at sea. CNN’s Jeanne Moos reports on a the dog’s long doggie paddle with no other boats in sight.
When “Noodle”, a yellow lab, fell overboard from a ferry in the Gulf of Naples on October 24, 2015, the ferry’s crew would not stop to rescue the dog. They told the dog’s owner that the dog would have drowned by then, and kept on heading toward the island of Ischia. But “Noodle” kept on swimming until discovered by RYCC Savoia. “Noodles” was found with no other boats in sight.
Their yacht was maneuvered toward the exhausted dog with legs nearly paralyzed from hypothermia.
One of the sailors from the Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia reached out to lift “Noodle” up by the scruff of its neck and pulled the dog on board.
Another crew member cuddled the dog and dried the whimpering puppy with a towel. The Yacht club sent out a rescue boat to bring “Noodle” to shore
The RYCC Savoia learned that “Noodle” had fallen overboard and worked to re-unite the dog with the owners. The had slipped through a collar before falling overboard.
“Bravo” A yellow lab was rescued in the Gulf of Naples by members of the Sailing Club of Savoy, Massimiliano Cappa. The crew saw the dog swimming for dear life and recovered the 3-month-old puppy to safety.
