Early snowfall report for Arlington Heights at a central location is 7 inches on a grass surface and 2.5 inches on unplowed pavement.
Light snow began to fall just before 7:52 p.m. Friday at Chicago Executive Airport. Snow has fallen continuously until the time of this report at 10:15 a.m., and is expected to taper off by 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
The snow is heavy, wet snow with high amounts accumulating on tree branches, and causing some downed trees and downed branches.
Temperatures will be dropping this morning and afternoon and temperatures are expected to hit freezing (32°F) by about 11:00 a.m. The overnight low is expected to fall to 12°F from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. The wind chill is expected to hit zero.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 3:00 p.m.
