Officials in Fox Lake, Illinois say Lt. Joe Gliniewicz, who police say staged his elaborate suicide to look like a homicide, attempted to hire someone to kill the village’s manager months before his death.
Lake County Sheriff’s police say that Lt Joe Gliniewicz may have attempted to contact a high-ranking motorcycle gang member via a third party to potentially set up a hit of Village Manager Anne Marrin. The allegation was not confirmed. The high-ranking motorcycle member was identified, and denied any contact with Lt Joe Gliniewicz. Police say the gang member was eliminated as a person of interest.
Deleted text messages indicated content suggesting a possible set up the Fox Lake Village Manager Anne Marrin — possibly with a DUI arrest or other scenario.
Lake County Sheriff’s detective Christopher Covelli also reported that investigators found an unlabeled evidence bag containing “a small amount of cocaine” in Gliniewicz’s desk in the days after Gliniewicz’s suicide.
Fox Lake Village Manager Anne Marrin formerly worked as an administrator at the City of Prospect Heights.
Text messages leave trail of wrongdoing by Lt. Gliniewicz.
