Chicago police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:00 AM Tuesday to a fire at Harry’s Lumber 6220 North Northwest Highway Chicago, IL. Chicago released the hold on Metra Train traffic at 5:42 a.m. Trains are moving again on the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line. Train #602, scheduled to arrive Chicago at 6:10 AM, is operating 12 minutes behind schedule due to a fire adjacent to the tracks.
Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived to find smoke coming from the roof of the Harry’s Lumber Company building. Smoke was coming from several overhead doors and the fire operations was defensive.

A lot of fire was reported inside the building. Hose lines were placed across Northwest Highway.
The building is 100 x 150 square feet. No fire was through the roof at 4:22 a.m.
The fire was response was upgraded to a Still and Box Alarm at 4:02 a.m.
The fire response was upgraded to a 2-11 alarm at 4:26 a.m.
Metra trains on the Northwest Line were halted near Norwood Park just before 5:00 a.m.
Inbound and outbound train movement has been halted near Norwood Park on the Metra/Union Pacific Norhwest Line due to a fire near the tracks. The duration of this delay is unknown.
