Can Apple’s new music service take on Spotify in the streaming wars? CNN’s Samuel Burke reports.
Apple Music lets you listen to about 30 million songs from the iTunes catalog, plus any music you’ve purchased from iTunes over the years. The app’s recommendation system uses both algorithms and humans to pick the perfect tunes for you.
Siri also helps users find new and vintage music with some new voice commands, but Apple has messed up the iCloud design. The same way pictures can get lost into a black hole on the Mac when saving a picture outside of iPhoto, the iCloud Music Library is complicated and confusing.
While people love their iPhones, there is considerable resentment to Apple monopolizing the music industry. A good share of the 20 million users on Spotify, love their Spotify.
With Spotify, users can “Play Free” right from a web browser. Apple forces users to go through iTunes. There are always a lot of catches to using Apple products.
Several other streaming music services are also available — Rdio, Pandora, Slacker, and YouTube Red, which was launched Wednesday, October 28, 2015.
