Schools bus overheats, school children passengers evacuated.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:38 PM Wednesday to a report of a school bus fire that turned out to be an overheated engine at Euclid Avenue and Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights, IL. Firefighter/paramedics received a report that police were on the scene reporting that steam was coming from a under the hood of a school bus.
Students were evacuated from the bus before firefighters arrived, and a backup bus immediately picked up the students and continued the route.
Firefighters checked the engine for unusual heat with a thermal imaging camera. Hillside Towing was hired by the school bus company to tow the vehicle to a maintenance garage.
No injuries were reported.
