Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a massive manhunt Tuesday in an apparent close perimeter in Fox Lake centered at Honing Road Near Sayton Rd, where police officer Lt Joe Gliniewicz was shot and killed during a foot pursuit. Three suspects escaped, and were believed to be inside a perimeter Honing Road and Sayton Road, Fox Lake. The manhunt began about 8:11 a.m. Tuesday when Lt Joe Gliniewicz was discovered fatally wounded. The perimeter near the crime scene was released about 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, apparently when authorities had reason to confirm that suspects were no longer or might never have been stationary in the tight perimeter near the crime scene.
Rumors, inaccurate reports and silence affected a town that was already paralyzed by police activity during the entire day.
Many questions — some ridiculous — surfaced during Tuesday and Wednesday …
How many suspects?
On what part of the land was he shot? Southwest of the old concrete plant? East of the concrete plant?
Did they cross the state lines?
Is the manhunt over?
Has the search expanded?
