St. Charles police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:43 AM Thursday to a report of a car vs electric utility pole at Route 25 and Country Club Road St. Charles, IL. Police on the scene reported the crash was on the east side of Route 25 just north of Country Club Road.
A black SUV was found in a ditch in a tree line on the other side of the downed power lines.
The male driver was suspected to be a DUI driver, and the crash is suspected to be classified a DUI crash.

About 44 customers in South Elgin north of the crash scene were without power overnight.
Route 25 was closed overnight for power line and utility pole repairs. ComEd estimated the restoration of power would occur by 9:29 a.m.
