UPDATE: POLICE SAY WOMAN LIED ABOUT SEEING SUSPECTS … Police: Woman Says She Lied About Seeing Suspects; Caused Massive Search Near Volo and Lakemoor

Police Activity including law enforcement agencies from Fox Lake, Island Lake, Lake County Sheriff, Lakemoor, Wauconda, and Illinois State Police are on scene or near the scene after a 911 call reported a male/black and a male/white running through a field near Route 12 south of Route 120. A perimeter has been setup. Police activity began just after 9:30 p.m.

Police initially had at least three separate calls sighting suspicious subjects in the general area of Route 12 and Route 120, and as far north as Lakemoor. Later several more calls from the Lakemoor area were received.

Air One police helicopter was immediately assigned to the scene.

The location in Volo is about 5 miles south of the crime scene where slain Fox Lake Police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz was when he was checking three suspicious subjects Tuesday morning.

Businesses are located to the north in the area of tonight’s search perimeter. The businesses include a Dunkin’ Donuts, Munson Ski & Marine, a McDonald’s, and Skipper Bud’s boat dealership. Several large fields are also located in the area to the south. A subdivision is located to the east of the search area.

Another search area is near the Lakemoor Golf Club, a little over one mile northwest of Route 12 and Route 120.

Many citizens were out keeping watch and giving live updates of sightings to police dispatch centers.
