Law enforcement activity was reported by two WGN reporters this afternoon. About 4:50 p.m. Erik Runge reported dozens of US Marshals were following up on a lead in a neighborhood. He later reported that US Secret Service agents were back in the neighborhood — specifically near Hickory Avenue and Spruce Avenue. The neighborhood is about 1500 feet northeast of the old concrete plant where slain Fox Lake Police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz was near when he was checking three suspicious subjects who are sought in his homicide.
WGN’s Tom Negovan reported he spotted the US Secret Service armed with MP5s in the neighborhood. Heckler & Koch MP5 weapons are submachine guns used by many military, law enforcement, and SWAT organizations. There are many different types of MP5 weapons, including a semi-automatic version.
