A new health-food restaurant in San Francisco has eliminated cashiers and could shake-up the fast food industry.
Customers at Eatsa in the Financial District in San Francisco can order from an Apple iPad with a surrounding sleek restaurant-like kiosk case. The customer sends the order to the kitchen via the iPad. When the meal is ready, it appears in a small glass compartment. The food is prepared by real people, but the patrons don’t see them.
The scene might remind you of the movie The Island (if you’ve seen it) with Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson where the compound inhabitants are clones who are used for organ harvesting and surrogate motherhood for wealthy people in the outside world. The inhabitants live in a very healthy environment, but they don’t know what’s on the other side.
