Fox Lake police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:11 AM Tuesday to a report of “an officer down” 128 Honing Rd Fox Lake, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that an officer was down believed to be a shooting involving two or three suspects.
The suspects area described as a male/white and a male/black. A third suspect with unknown description was also believed to be involved.
The suspects are believed to have taken police officer’s sidearm weapon and pepper spray.
A very large manhunt is underway involving police helicopters and K-9 units.
Fox Lake police are being assisted by Lake County Sheriff, Illinois State Police, US Marshals and others.
The crime scene is about 2,000 feet west of Grant Community High School and Stanton School, which are under a soft lockdown. Other schools in the area are also under soft lockdown.
Police activity is concentrated at Sayton Road and Honing Road — the police staging area and command post. The shooting may have occurred east of that location, closer to Rollins Road.
