Wheeling police responded about 9:50 AM Sunday to numerous activated alarms and reports of power outages in Wheeling and Prospect Heights. Police received a report of a large power-related explosion in the ComEd substation off of Wheeling Road just north of Palatine Road (east of the Segerdahl facility on North Wheeling Road).
Police responded to numerous activated burglary alarms and multiple reports of traffic signal out.
Some power may have been coming back online by about 11:00 a.m. Hintz Road and Wolf Road was still out at 11:04 a.m.
