Hoffman Estates police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:23 PM Wednesday to a report that someone drove into a pile of sand at 1100 Brandt Drive Hoffman Estates, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a person was buried and trapped in sand. Initially firefighter/paramedics and police received a report that the incident occurred at Beverly Road and Higgins Road.
Firefighter/paramedics were then notified that the person was trapped or buried in sand near an area where conveyor belts were located.
At the time of the report it was unknown if the victim was a worker or person trespassing at the location.
Firefighter/paramedics reported that the victim was removed from the sand at 8:43 p.m. and was transferred to a Hoffman Estates Fire Department ambulance by 8:43 p.m.
The condition of the patient recovered from the sand was unknown, but a witness at the scene described the condition as serious.
No extra response for a Technical Rescue Box was required, but a public works vacuum truck was placed on standby in case it was needed for rescue.
