Illinois State Police and Chicago police responded about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday to a report of shots fired from a vehicle in the outbound lanes on part of the Eisenhower Expressway were closed for more than an hour late Tuesday after authorities received a report that someone was shooting a gun from a car, according to Illinois State Police.
A witness reported seeing someone shooting from a silver and white car on the outbound Eisenhower Expressway (Interstate 290).
Just after about 9:52 a.m. police shutdown the outbound expressway from Independence Boulevard to Cicero Avenue while state police troopers searched for a possible shooting victim and shell casings.
Two outbound lanes were reopened at about 11 p.m. after no casings were found and no shooting victims were found.
The location is just south of Garfield Park Lagoon and the Garfield neighborhood, which is known for shootings near Central Park Boulevard and Central Park Avenue.
The Eisenhower Expressway has been shut down several times this summer for reports of shootings or shots fired from vehicles.
