Wilmington police and firefighters and paramedics responded 4:40 PM Friday to an Amtrak train crash with a semi-trailer truck at New River Road, just west of Route 53. Police and firefighter/paramedics reported that a truck was rolled over on its side. The railroad crossing is located on New River Road just west of Route 53, in Wilmington.
Fire command reports 14 people in triage. The first patient was transported about 4:52 p.m. Several patients have been transported to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Early reports are that no serious injuries occurred on board the train. Passengers on board the train were transferred by shuttle bus to Wilmington High School.
Wilmington is located about 13 miles south of Joliet, Illinois.
