VIDEO: Firefighters quickly extinguish flames from the roof of the former Garden Fresh Market store, and search the interior of the building at West Hintz Road and Old Buffalo Grove Road, Wheeling.
Wheeling police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:23 AM Sunday to a report of a fire on the roof of the former Garden Fresh Market grocer, 1786 West Hintz Road Wheeling, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that fire was showing from the roof of the commercial building.
Wheeling firefighters supplied water to Buffalo Grove Fire Department Tower Ladder 25, which was the closest tower ladder truck. Tower Ladder 25 took a position at the rear of the large commercial strip mall building.
The fire was quickly extinguished as soon as the elevated master stream was dropped on the roof near the rear wall of the building.
Firefighters and police are investigating the cause of the fire. Witnesses reported a vehicle was near the scene before the fire started.
An auction sign is displayed at the front of the building.
Old Buffalo Grove Road was closed to traffic during firefighting operations.
