VIDEO: Accident investigation scene after motorcycle crash at Golf Road and Mount Prospect Road in Des Plaines.
Des Plaines police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:30 PM Wednesday to Golf Road and Mount Prospect Des Plaines, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a motorcycle crashed with a minivan, and that the motorcyclist was down in a parking lot near the intersection.
First firefighter/paramedics on the scene reported a motorcyclist was down and the motorcycle was cut in half. The front wheel broke away, and the handlebars broke away as a third piece in the roadway.
The motorcyclist described as a 20-year-old male was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. The driver in the minivan was evaluated by a paramedic crew in a second rescue ambulance that responded to the scene, but refused transportation to a local hospital.
The motorcycle was broken in two major pieces with other pieces on the roadway and sidewalk on the southwest side of the intersection of Golf Road and Mount Prospect Road near Walgreens.
Des Plaines police are working a prolonged accident investigation with southbound lanes of Mount Prospect Road south of Golf Road blocked to all traffic.
