Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:43 AM Tuesday to a report of gasoline flowing at the Citgo Station at Palatine Road and Windsor Drive Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that gasoline was “flowing all over the place” and flowing into the street. Firefighters responded with a HazMat Level I response.
A passerby hit the “kill switch” before firefighters arrived, but firefighters were still working on stopping the flow at about 6:00 a.m.
The gasoline flow was apparently occurring for an unknown amount of time, and gasoline did flow into sewers.
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District was request to respond to the scene by about 6:00 a.m.
Traffic delays appear to be the worst in the southbound lanes of Windsor Drive near the gas station.
