Surveillance video shows a suspicious package being dropped off outside the White House on March 4th followed by the actions of Secret Service agents.
Jason Chaffetz (Chair, House Oversight Committee) explains the Secret Service and bomb scare incident about 10:20 p.m. on March 4, 2015. The video supplied by the Washington Metropolitan Police shows an officer come out to try to stop the driver. The driver flees the scene. The suspected bomb/unknown package sits next to a gatehouse building. Jason Chaffetz, U.S. Representative for Utah’s 3rd congressional district, points out that the barricade protection of the crime scene was inadequate. US Secret Service agents drive into the crime scene about 30 minutes after the package was placed near the gatehouse.
The scene was rendered safe at 11:45 p.m. when experts determined the package was not a bomb.
