Glenview police responded about 5:38 AM Tuesday to a report of an attempted burglary at Abt Electronics 1200 North Milwaukee Avenue Glenview , IL. Police received a report of a burglary in progress at Abt Electronics about 5:38 a.m. Initially it was believed that two employees may have been held hostage, but this turned out not to be the case.
According to Glenview police, a full-size van and a minivan with four men arrived at the Abt Electronics parking lot at 1200 North Milwaukee Avenue at 5:38 a.m.
One of the offenders drove the full-size van into the building through exterior and interior sets of glass doors on the south side of the store — near the merchandise pickup area. Once the doors were breached, all four men ran into the store, where they were confronted by an employee.
Surveillance video shows that a full-sized older model champagne or silver 1997-2002 Ford Econoline was driven into the south doors. The van was pulled out in reverse when the suspects fled. From the video it appears that the van would have scrape marks and scratches along the roof of the van.
The suspects were reported to have been at large in the area. Police were searching the area, including I-294 immediately after the crime was reported.
